Country

Busy, but not chaotic; orderly, but not boring; beautiful, efficient, appealing. Parma is constantly in the top ranks regarding quality of life in the national survey carried out by the financial newspaper “Sole 24 Ore”. Parma has 170,000 inhabitants and has an ideal size for using a bicycle. The town is surrounded by an as yet uncontaminated countryside. To the North there are the charming plains of the Po river; to the South the woods of the Apennines and, one hour away, the Ligurian Sea. You can breathe the quality of life in the air, in Parma. In this atmosphere, the University plays an active role. While in Parma, one should experience Italy in all its cultural splendor. Go to Rome, Venice and Florence.

Accommodation and living expenses

Residenza Terzo Millennio Parma is the dormitory in Parma. Current going rates are 400 € per person for a double room and 500 € for a single room. The third semester is cut short by the international internship at the end of the semester, which means that the dormitory is an easy option, as private housing can be hard to set up for less than three months. Average living expenses (excluding rent) in Italy are around € 300 – 400 per month.

Language

Not everyone in Italy speak English, but the international coordinator at Parma University can always help and the staff at the dormitory speaks English and can be helpful as well. All three partner institutions offer language courses in the local languages.

Visa

Non EU-citizens must apply for residency permit in each of the three countries. More information and assistance will be provided upon acceptance into the programme.
