After getting my first Master degree in the UK and 1.5 year of work experience, I chose DILL as my next step in 2008. DILL is very different from other master courses. In addition to academic knowledge, the professors gave us more than what textbooks can teach us. We had the chance to explore the latest high technology used in the most advanced libraries in the world. With video conferences, we were able to talk face to face with the best researchers around the world. Starting from the basics and leading us to the possible future, DILL provided us with the most essential knowledge and capabilities to not only solve current problems but help the next digital era better. This is 100% useful for my current work at Elsevier, a global company headquartered in Amsterdam. Thank you DILL!

I consider the DILL experience as something that changed my life! I concluded my Master DILL with a thesis on Knowledge Management. Few months later I moved to The Netherlands to work for IFLA as Advocacy Support Officer. At the moment I am also a PhD student at the University of Zadar, Croatia. My area of interest covers New Professionals, advocacy, libraries, policy and Knowledge Management.

I was a part of the DILL-programme for only 2 years, but the programme has given me quality academic, social and cultural experiences which will be with me for the rest of my life. DILL does not just boast of knowledgeable lecturers from the three Universities, but also experts from across the globe who travel down and make teaching and learning just playful and rich. For me, the 18 students selected from 16 different countries over the world for the 2007 group gave me a sense of belonging to a global family. Presently, I am doing my PhD in Digital Preservation and Cultural Heritage at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. I have found the DILL experiences extremely useful in my present experience. I think DILL sells you even before you get to the market.

DILL is not just a traditional academic course program where you passively get information and training. It prepares you to be part of an active international academic and professional community in the field of digital information. In the DILL program you can get in touch with the people who are leading the field and who are happy to engage you in projects, conferences, publications and social activities where new ideas take shape. I learned from DILL that learning can be a life experience attached to culture and personal development. At the moment I am doing my PhD and participating in digital library design teams.

DILL prepares you for the challenging but exciting world of digital libraries. The Master programme provides you with conceptual, theoretical and technological foundations in the multifaceted area of digital libraries. All courses offered at the three universities are well planned and closely interdependent. DILL has well experienced and high level lecturers and researchers who support your learning. They offer you a balanced mix of technological, socio-cultural and managerial issues of digital libraries. In DILL you are allowed to construct meaning from your learning. You get the opportunity to participate in international conferences (I attended three of them while still in DILL). You will meet and learn from an excellent mix of students from various cultures. After finishing my studies, I got a job in a project funded by the European Commission. I worked in the area of digital preservation metadata, which then led me to start a full-time PhD in the University of Portsmouth in the area of metadata.

I was honoured to be a participant in the first ever DILL intake in 2007.  The experience had a profound effect on me, both professionally and personally. DILL is a fusion of learning about digital libraries; learning about your classmates’ cultural backgrounds, and experiencing life in three different European cities. DILL exposes you to experts in the field, which is something I could never have experienced had I remained in Australia. Since completing the DILL programme, I held a position managing a digital library of audio books for a not-for-profit organization in Australia. Now I am working at the Queensland University of Technology as an Associate Lecturer, something that I do not believe would have been possible without DILL.
